ASTP is proud to have some really outstanding sunless business owners who make up our membership base. Each week, we feature one of our members so you can get to know them and their business.
We chose to begin our feature series by introducing you to our 2018 Sunless Summit planning committee.
So, without further ado, meet...
Type of Biz: Mobile & Salon
Amount of Time in Biz: 7+ years
Full-Time or Part-Time?: Full Time
Biz Social Media Links:
Tools of the Trade (equipment preference): Love my MaxiMist units at the moment
What I Wear (solution brand and % used to spray YOU): I love South Seas and Perfect Glow at the moment. I tend to always lean towards a 10% and up percentage. I am in the process of speaking to a chemist to produce my own solution!
I chose to be an airbrush tanner because: I love meeting new people and being able to make them feel their absolute best. Every woman (and man) is beautiful and when she or he walks out with a boost of confidence to take on the world I feel so happy!
If I weren't an airbrush tanner I would be: A force to be reckoned with in the sales world.
My most embarrassing moment as a business owner: When I first started out I was referred to an A list client by another client. When I went to her house, let me say it was AMAZING!!!! I was nervous but knew I could do the job. Everything was turning out perfect until the end. Somehow, don’t ask me how because I still don’t know, my gun decided to start shooting out solution nonstop onto her WHITE WALLS! I was completely mortified and just stood there with a deer in headlights look. I thought I was finished! Luckily I struck the A List Actress goldmine and she was so sweet and she is still a client to this day.
Favorite social media outlet: Instagram and Insta stories!
The one thing I could not live without for my biz: The long lasting friendships I have formed with some of my clients. They have become my biggest supporters and future bridesmaids when that time comes.
The part of owning my own business I am not very good at: Accounting! Getting better but it’s just not my thing!
The one thing I wish I knew when I started my business: People are willing to help if you just ask.
Where I plan to be in five years: Owning two storefront locations with a product line
Business owners who inspire me: Jenn Dieas and Shonna Dexter. There are not enough words to describe the influence they have had in my journey and they are Fu*%ing amazing badass women.
Quote I love: “Always bet on you”
When I’m not working, I love to: Hike, Gold, DIY, walk around Target alone, and find new restaurants
My favorite thing about owning my own business: Sitting back on a daily basis and thinking, I did this all because “I bet on me”. My mother who passed away 10 years ago would be cheering me on and so damn proud.
The thing I dislike most about owning my own business: The hard decisions that you know may affect YOUR bottom line and work paycheck depends on the amount of time you put in. At times the thought becomes so overwhelming but you can’t listen to those fears.
My friends would say I am: Fiercely Loyal, giving, straight forward
If I could share some wisdom with someone just getting started in this biz it would be:
EDUCATION FIRST!!! After that, push forward and don’t overthink it! So many times I was waiting for the “perfect” social media page, the “perfect website” or the “perfect solution”. Do not wait, trust yourself and push forward!
Any parting words? In a world where women are creating such a platform of hate against each other, be the light that joins them together. We can all do this and have it all! Stay true to yourself and never ever ever give up!
