I chose to be an airbrush tanner because: My awesome sister encouraged me to check it out! I brushed it off the first several times she mentioned it...but one day it clicked when she brought it up and I've never looked back. If we're going to be real here, I've been a sun worshiper my whole life and yes I'm paying for it now. Eeeesh! On the bright side, guess it's better late than never that I'm now enjoying the benefits of faux tans. When I started by biz, I quickly discovered I love being the one that lights up a person's day. I love the people I am meeting. I love explaining the whole process of spray tanning to a new client and then them telling me "wow, no one has ever explained it to me before". Can you tell I love what I do?! Haha!

If I wasn’t an airbrush tanner I would be: A dietician. I'm fascinated with food and how it affects the body...but I hate to cook. Good thing Airbrush Tanning worked out for me...

My most embarrassing moment as a business owner: : Geeee...not that this is original but I had a gun that was hemorrhaging solution sooooo bad while spraying a client, I had to wrap paper towels around the trigger area to try and control the craziness. Everything I was trying to do to fix it wasn't working. It looked like CSI Wellington in my little spray area. I was mortified! Thank goodness it was an existing client that totally understood and her tan turned out great later. Come to find out, how I was hanging my gun was loosening the bolt around the needle a little bit each time I hung it up. It finally loosened it so much that solution was just flowing out. Learn something new everyday! Ha! All I can say is thank goodness that wasn't on a mobile appointment. Yes, I keep a back up but at the time gun was a different brand that I didn't care for.

Favorite social media outlet: Definitely Instagram

The one thing I could not live without for my biz: My website

The part of owning my own business I am not very good at: Staying on top of paperwork. Yawn!

The one thing I wish I knew when I started my business: It's. Going. To. Take. A. Long. Time. To. Build.

Where I plan to be in five years:  Can't tell you it's a secret...but I've got goals baby!

Business owners who inspire me: Honestly, everyone in here because we've taken action on our dream of starting a business. It takes guts no matter if you are running a small one or large one. I get inspiration from the beginners to the ones that have been doing it for years. Everyone's success looks a little different...and I'm constantly telling myself to stay in my lane.

Quote I love: "Learn everything you can, anytime you can, from anyone you can. There will always come a time you will be grateful you did." Sarah Caldwell ( ...and that is why I love this ASTP group! Everyone is willing to share knowledge.)

When I’m not working, I love to: Watch my boys play baseball / football, try out new restaurants with my hubby, and sit on the beach and read (sporting a spray tan and sunscreen of course!)

My favorite thing about owning my own business: It's a reflection of ME! I decide how the business is represented, the tone, the feel, the hours, etc.

The thing I dislike most about owning my own business: Having to get out of my comfort zone to make it work. I say I dislike it...I dislike the thought of having to put myself out there when that's not my usual demeanor. After I do it, I'm on top of the world with a feeling of accomplishment. It's getting a little easier each time so I consider that progress.

If I could share some wisdom with someone just getting started in this biz it would be: Get ready for an awesome ride...and try to enjoy it instead of fretting over everything. It's going to take time. Period. You'll hear that all the time and it won't really sink in at first. Bust your butt and do everything in your power to get it going but seriously enjoy the learning and growing along the way. Try to find a buddy that can encourage you and you can encourage them because you're going to need it. Trust me!

Any parting words?: I have seriously grown to love this industry and the people in it. I have to say the ASTP group is unique because I always feel comfortable speaking up and asking questions. Thank you for fostering this type of environment.
