ASTP is proud to have some really outstanding sunless business owners who make up our membership base. Each week, we feature one of our members so you can get to know them and their business.
Meet the wonderful owner of The Cabana, in Sanford, NC...Hannah Hepler.

Solution(s) I Love: A little bit of everything because I don't believe in "one-size-fits-all". However, I do love Perfect Glow, some Norvell and right now, Black Magic Ultra Dark. My brides love the Sjolie Clear, so we carry quite a bit of that this time of year.
Tools of the Trade: I just purchased a Maxi Mist Pro to carry my volume and love it! I did have a big prom day where I overworked it and it shut down, but that was such an accomplishment problem. Thank goodness I had my backup! Oh! I love, love my new Iwata Airbrush Pen for contouring - my new favorite trade!
What I Wear: I like to change it up all the time. Last tan was Venetian One, but before that was Bella Bronze 14%.
Best celebrity airbrush tan award goes to: Jennifer Aniston in The Breakup. I just watched that again for the 49th time.
I chose to be an airbrush tanner because: I've always loved to make people smile and feel great about themselves. So when I was introduced to this, I knew I had found something pretty amazing that matches my personality!
If I wasn’t an airbrush tanner I would be: Retired.
My most embarrassing moment as a business owner: I was mobile in a country club at a very nice home, when I turned my machine on and the solution started spraying on her white curtains. She immediately jumped out of the tent, over me and half naked to jump in the way of the spray! Thank goodness she was cool about it... once we threw her curtains in the bathtub and she saw it all came out.
Favorite social media outlet: Instagram
The one thing I could not live without for my biz: Genbook
The part of owning my own business I am not very good at: Twitter, Pinterest and Snapchat - I truly need a teenager to teach me.
The one thing I wish I knew when I started my business: Branding makes a big difference. It wasn't until I went to the Sunless Summit in Vegas, that this really sunk in. When asked who my target market was, I realized I needed my brand to match what I wanted. When I came back from Vegas, I immediately rebranded and my target audience started booking...it was crazy cool!
Where I plan to be in five years: Managing The Cabana, instead of working in it, with more than one location. I'll still spray tan because I love it, but would rather train, manage and market!
Business owners who inspire me: Brenna Holt would be my #1. She was so kind to train me when I first started and has been a fabulous mentor the entire time. Others would be every person that spoke at the Sunless Summit! They all had amazing stories to tell and brought a lot of inspiration to us newbies!
Quote I love: "The question isn't who's going to let me; it's who is going to stop me" - Ayn Rand
When I’m not working, I love to: Vacation & sleep
My favorite thing about owning my own business: I set the vibe! I've worked places where the leader didn't set a good example and vibe was way off. Now I get a chance to help make others successful and happy.
The thing I dislike most about owning my own business: I can't do everything myself and long hours.
If I could share some wisdom with someone just getting started in this biz it would be: Get training immediately! Try lots of solution samples. Keep your prices competitive. Find your clientele and make sure your brand matches. Don't wait for social media to market for you, hit the streets and sell your services!
